My materialism is probably my biggest attitude flaw. I should fight against it more fervently and not surrender to it every time it summons my meager funds. And because my favorite time of the year is approaching, I have this wrong sense of belief that I deserve to buy everything that catches my eye. Which is, of course, silly. Unless I’m a daughter of a multimillionaire. But hey, they say Christmas is the season of giving. Shouldn’t I be generous with myself? (Joke!)
So, please allow me to share with you one of the major items that has been diligently calling my attention. Since there’s this China trip we’re going to this February, and it’s gonna be pretty cold that month (4 degrees Celsius on average), I want a winter coat, the one with fur on the inside. I’ve checked out some of my favorite brands and they have a multitude of really nice winter wear available but I just can’t seem to find it in me to shell out more than 5,000 pesos on one piece of item, especially for a coat that I won’t be able to use frequently as I live in a tropical country. So last night, I was browsing online and I stumbled upon Miss Selfridge’s website and TADA! They have coats on sale! I’m choosing between the checkered coat pictured above and the plain black one pictured below.
So what do you guys think? Which should I get?

My favorite part about the first time you get to wear your winter coat each year is checking the pockets to see what you did the last time you wore said winter coat. Today I pulled out of my pockets: McMurry University Honors Program Interview Schedule for Feb 12, and Tim’s business card. To that day, and the people I met that day I would just like to say thank you for making that day amazing. If I hadn’t gone I would have never choose to come to McMurry.
Health experts report that even a 2-degree drop in body temperature results in reduced heart rate, loss of coordination, and confusion. Adults cannot work effectively and children find it difficult to learn. For most, a warm coat solves the problem. But, for the now nearly 15% of Americans living in poverty, a warm winter coat is a budget “extra.” U.S. Census data September 2011 and Hypothermia, University of Maryland Medical Center

Definitely getting back to basics for any gift giving this year. Great time to find some great prices on winter coats! I picked up a few for the family.
As a Minnesotan, WARM coats are essential. But just because their warm, doesn’t mean they don’t need to be fashionable!
This Laundry coat is Amazing. It’s not black like all the other boring peacoats you see out there, and the faux fur trim gives it something special!
